Bowland Summer Training 2013

Monday nights:

  • Interval session at the Crook of Lune, Lancaster (6:40pm). Meet on cycle track at Crook of Lune, run on N side of river (footpath) GR.SD522648. All abilities welcome. Contact Quentin Harding for details
  • Hill intervals (or steady run if preferred) from Kemple End, Longridge Fell (GR.SD688416) at 6pm. Intervals are about 3.30 to 4.00mins runnable uphill with easy run back recoveries. Contact Andy Walmsley

Tuesday nights:

  •  Fell run on Pendle Hill, starting from Clitheroe road Sabden (GR.SD774382) at 6:30pm. Usually between 1hr and 1hr30 with plenty of climbing. Also four different Challenges to have a go at. Contact Andy Walmsley for details
  • OR exploration runs (BEG, DEG etc) from various venues. Usually at 7:00pm. Usually last more than 1hr30 but very slow and sociable! Keep an eye on emails for details or contact Andy Walmsley NB – the BEG DEG runs are an alternative to the Pendle run when they are on Tuesdays but can also be on Thursdays occasionally.
  • Circuit training in the gym at Ripley St. Thomas School, Lancaster (7:00pm). Contact Quentin Harding for details

Wednesday nights:

  • Traditional Bowland run from Fell Foot near Chipping (GR. SD599444) at 6:30pm. Can last from 45 min up to 2 hours with various groups running. Also four different Challenges to have a go at.  Contact Andy Walmsley for details

Thursday nights:

Now mostly free to allow for resting up to weekend races but occasional BEG/DEGs may be organised on an ad hoc basis (keep an eye on the Bowland Fellrunners Blog or emails)

Weekends: Various activities including:

  • Long-distance challenges in the Lakes, Wales and Scotland. Pacers/supporters always welcome! Contact Steve and Wynn Cliff for details
  • Races which often include a camp/barbecue near the venue – a “FAB” (see the Bowland Fellrunners Blog or emails for details)
  • FAB (Fell and Beer) runs. Usually consist of a Saturday afternoon run followed by a camp and barbecue or pub. Often attached to races as above. Contact Andy Walmsley for details
